November 22, 2009 -January 9, 2010Locator Map HOMELESS: telling our own stories GOT ART! 2009 will host a traveling exhibition of work entitled “Homeless: telling our own stories”. This is a unique show of work compiled in 2008 by Jesse Eubanks of the Jefferson Street Baptist Center in Louisville, Kentucky. There are several different series of work included in the overall exhibition: a series of self-documenting photography; drawings by Mark Anthony Mulligan, who has himself been homeless on & off for the last 20 years; and installation pieces that deal with the theme of homelessness. The work is meant to bring a greater understanding to the viewer of the plight of the homeless. As an artist, if you are interested in exploring the theme of Homelessness, the ACF would like to encourage you to submit work for consideration based on this theme for the exhibit. Because of the change in focus of the exhibit, there will be no judging & no prize money offered. For more details, please follow the link below. GOT ART! was the Art Central Foundation’s first event in the Fall of 2005. The exhibit was begun as a request to decorate the windows of vacant storefronts in the historic downtown of Middletown, Ohio. The show is unique in many ways: the work is installed mostly in vacant buildings in the Art Central District, the show is accessible to everyone at all hours throughout its run, & the venue is constantly changing. Since its inception, the GOT ART! exhibit has shown the work of hundreds of artists from Ohio, Indiana, & Kentucky. Timeline for GOT ART! 2009 Artist Submission How to get involved More information
